Truro is Cape Cod's smallest town by population and one of its most dramatic. It's known for Highland Light, the Cape's oldest lighthouse, sweeping Atlantic ocean views, the vast open landscape of the National Seashore, and a strong creative community. Edward Hopper famously summered in Truro and painted its landscapes throughout his career.

Visit Highland Light and the Cape Cod Highland Links golf course on the bluffs, hike the Head of the Meadow Trail through dunes to the ocean, and swim at Ballston Beach or Head of the Meadow Beach. The Pamet River offers gentle kayaking. Truro Vineyards is a short drive and worth an afternoon for wine tasting.

Truro has limited but quality dining options given its small size. Adrian's at Outer Cape Coffee is a local favourite for breakfast and lunch with ocean views. The Blackfish is an acclaimed small restaurant open through the summer season. Most visitors also dine in nearby Wellfleet or Provincetown, both only a short drive away.

Truro is wonderful for families who enjoy wide open natural spaces. Head of the Meadow and Ballston beaches are quiet and expansive. The lighthouse and bluffs are fascinating for curious children. The National Seashore trails are accessible for older kids. Truro rewards families who prefer nature over amusements, it's quiet, beautiful, and uncrowded.

Summer (July–August) for swimming and the full landscape in bloom. Truro in September and October becomes hauntingly beautiful, the light shifts, the dune grasses turn gold, and the beaches are almost empty. It's an especially good destination for artists, writers, and anyone seeking solitude. Truro Vineyards harvest events are a September highlight.
